Church Hill is a historic neighborhood located in Downtown Richmond. Geographically, the area is bounded to the east by 32nd Street, north by M. Street, 21st Street to the west, and Franklin Street and Williamsburg Road to the south.

Famous for being the place where Patrick Henry gave his 1775 “Give Me Liberty” speech, the area is commonly known as the district and is home to many of Richmond’s original 32 blocks.

Historic Church Hill

Church Hill is one of Richmond’s first and oldest neighborhoods. So naturally, home architecture and styles vary in this historic district. Most streets feature row-style houses and townhouses, although there are some standalone homes in the area.

Many were built in the Pre-Civil War, but there are also homes in Church Hill built in the ’70s, 80’s and ’90s. Colonial, Greek Revival, Italianate, and Queen Anne are predominant architectural styles.

Like other neighborhoods in The Fan and Downtown Richmond, Church Hill has many historic, original homes. Often, these residences have not undergone restorations or renovations like upgrades to their plumbing and HVAC systems.

Original systems and components like those in many of Church Hill’s historic properties can present challenges for homeowners. But the technicians at Carroll Plumbing & Heating Inc. have experience in servicing, repairing, and tuning up systems of various makes, models, and ages.

Our team also offers knowledge and skill in retrofitting for customers who wish to preserve and maintain antiquated systems while still enjoying energy efficiency and comfort.

Vibrant and Quickly-Growing Church Hill

In addition to being historic, Church Hill is also a high-growth area. Families and young professionals alike are drawn to the area’s walkability, charm, and beauty. Outdoor activities are plentiful, with the biking trail to Williamsburg and James River nearby.

The farm-to-table restaurants, independent retail establishments, and fun annual events also make this area of Richmond an up-and-coming place to be.

With this new growth comes new construction, and our technicians service new builds throughout the Church Hill area. Some new construction work includes installing pipes and lines that bring in fresh water and carry out waste. Installing gas lines is also a critical part of new builds for homeowners who want to use natural gas.

Major appliances like washers, dryers, and refrigerators need to be fitted and installed, and we do that too. We also install water heaters and kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room plumbing and fixtures like sinks, tubs, and water heaters.

Finally, new construction needs HVAC systems, so we install venting, heating, and cooling systems to keep new homes and offices comfortable year-round.

Excellent service on replacing gas boilers quickly. I could not be more pleased with the level of service and professionalism that Bruce and Carroll Plumbing have provided. They were prompt, courteous, and efficient. My old boiler went out in a peak busy time, and Bruce prioritized the replacement work for us, and the job was completed in a timely manner. I recommend their high-quality work and will use them again. I plan to call them for any plumbing needs that may arise also.”
